Hypnotherapy for Food Addiction

So are you really addicted to a food? What exactly constitutes a food addiction? The answer is not as cut and dried as you may think. The reality is that the term food addiction covers a large area of eating problems. If you for example love to eat bread then many people will say that they are addicted to that particular food. For others the food addiction covers a much wider area. Food addiction may for them mean that they can't stop eating and it doesn't matter what the food stuff is. At London Weight Loss Hypnotherapy we use Hypnotherapy for Food Addiction to deal with all forms of the problem.

When we work with Hypnotherapy for Food Addiction we understand that generally there is an emotional root cause adding to the problem. This root cause does not need to be a dark destructive negative force as some people may think but a habit or way of thinking that they mind has got into and can't seem to stop. It is worth remembering that your subconscious is a part of your mind that learns from lessons in the past and is there to make you feel safe or to comfort you. So in very simplistic terms if you were given food as a reward in the past and it made you feel good then the subconscious will continue to make you crave that food even if it not longer serves the same purpose.

Diets Don't Work

The reason why diets don't work is relatively simple. Let's say that when you were a child your mother would bake you fresh bread as a treat. Whenever your mother made this bread you felt loved, protected and felt comforted by the food because it made you feel safe. Your subconscious learns the lesson that bread is comfort food and so whenever you are feeling not at your best you want some. Perhaps you had a horrible day at school. You come home eat the bread and things don't feel so bad. As you get older you have a row with your boss, you get home and make yourself a pile of toast. On and on it goes. As an adult you don't even think about the associations from your childhood instead you reach for that bread automatically and with very little thought.

Now of course bread itself isn't a problem but if you are eating too much of it every single day then the weight starts to pile on. You resolve to go on a diet and begin to cut out your bread treats. Everything goes fine until something happens to make you need comfort and you reach out automatically for that food stuff and your diet is broken. You believe that you are addicted to that food and no matter how hard you try you can never break your habit.

Hypnotherapy for Food Addiction Works!

So how exactly does food addiction hypnotherapy work? Well firstly we work with you over a series of sessions to find out what your particular triggers are. When you understand the reasons why you are doing something it is much easier to put in place alternative behaviours to counteract what you have been doing before. Understanding the emotional root cause of a problem means that you have won half your battle.

Once we understand the reason why you are doing something then we need to encourage a new subconscious learning. In other words eating too much bread no longer makes you feel as good as when you were a child. It makes you pile on the pounds, feel sluggish and unhealthy. Hypnotherapy for food addiction now works with you to alter the old subconscious behaviours so that you make new healthier choices.
